The beaches in the Alghero area are gorgeous, long stretches of fine white sand framed by lush vegetation typical of the area.

The most accessible beach is

SAN GIOVANNI

that goes from the harbor to the camping site La Mariposa. This is the town beach and can be reached on foot; it is also the most serviced with plenty of bars and bazaars all over.

MARIA PIA

is a long stretch of white sand with clear shallow water on one side and a lush pine wood on the other. This beach is at the edge of town and though it is well serviced with sun beds, umbrellas, bars and restaurants it maintains a more natural feel rather than that of an urban beach.

 

How to get there

From Alghero go towards Fertilia, you will find the beach on the left.

LE BOMBARDE

A short drive away from Alghero there is the ever so popular and gorgeous Le Bombarde, white sand and crystalline water, this beach can get very crowded as it is popular with locals and tourists alike.

 

How to get there

From Alghero go towards Capo Caccia then cross Fertilia and after 2 km you will find the road indication on the left; continue for 1 km and finally you will find the Bombarde beach.

IL LAZZARETTO

Is another long stretch of white sand and a very good choice when the northwesterly wind blows over Alghero as this spot is rather sheltered.

 

How to get there

From Alghero go towards Capo Caccia, cross Fertilia, after 2 km turn left following the indications for the Bombarde beach, follow the coast to the right, after the Bombarde beach you will find Lazzaretto beach.

MUGONI

Is a particullary beautiful beach. It is a little further away than these two beaches, but it is worth the extra drive as the natural surroundings and clear water are a spectacle not to be missed. Mugoni is particularly at sunset when the majority of people have left and the sun sets over Capo Caccia.

 

How to get there

From Alghero go towards Capo Caccia, then cross Fertilia and after 10 km, you will find a road crossing, turn right towards Capo Caccia. Finally you will find the beach after 2 km, on the left.

PORTO FERRO

This beach is popular with surfers, in fact it is very exposed to the elements and you can often find waves to test your surfing skills.

 

How to get there

From Alghero go towards Capo Caccia, turn towards Santa Maria La Palma and then turn left at the road crossing. After 2 km you will find on the right the road indication for Porto Ferro.

TUCANO BEACH

Along the coast way Alghero Fertilia, in front of the Pala Congressi, you can find the beach and its water park . The structure offers many services: from the rental of sunbeds and sunshades, to games for children on the beach and in the water. There is also an express kitchen, that allows you to enjoy fast food and always tasty appetizing ideas. In addition there is a kiosk bar with showers, where you can rent rubber boats, pedal boats and canoes.

CAPO GALERA

It is a rocky promontory of the Coral Riviera. The sea in some places is of an intense blue in others instead takes on an emerald green color; it has a rocky and deep sea bed with several ravines where various species of molluscs and fish find their home. The eastern part of the promontory  is the most suitable for diving and for the interesting snorkeling activity. On the promontory there is a diving center. It is not a very crowded area of tourists, given the difficulty to reach this rocky beach by land.

 

How to get there

From Alghero, proceed along the Strada Statale 127 bis, in the direction of Porto Conte. Then take the road on the left to the beaches of Lazzaretto, proceed straight ahead to the entrance of the diving center. Finally take a path to the left towards the sea, proceeding on foot.

CALA DRAGUNARA

Cala Dragunara has a rather deep internal lake (about 40 meters, with stalactites): on the surface there is fresh water, which becomes salty after a few meters. It has been for millennia place of supply of fresh water and this is testified by the discovery of pots and containers. Its depths full of mysterious ravines, are much loved by divers. In Cala Dragunara you can also find a bar and a small beach.

 

How to get there

Cala Dragunara is located in the area of Capo Caccia, in the municipality of Alghero. It can be reached by taking first of all the SP 55. Then past the junction for Capocaccia and take a dirt road on the left that leads to the sea.
