08 Mar THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SEA IN SPAIN..IS HERE …IN ALGHERO, SARDINIA!
The fascinating Baleari islands, an archipelago off the coast of eastern Spain in the Mediterranean Sea, are here in Alghero, north-west of Sardinia
The same Iberian sea, with its characteristics that we find in the sea of Sardinia. The same scents that give us the Mediterranean, such as eucalyptus and pine trees.
A curiosity brings us back to the ancient Greeks. They called Ibiza and Formentera, two famous islands of the Baleari archipelago, Pitiusse Islands, that is, islands of the pines.
It is right here, in Alghero, that you can find a concentrate of ‘Mediterranean’, between the magnificent coasts of the most beautiful sea of Sardinia, and a luxuriant Mediterranean spot.
Alghero is one of the most characteristic centers of Sardinia. Its coasts, full of solitary coves, border gracious beaches, and the cliffs are bathed by a beautiful crystalline sea, with emerald green color. The beaches, at times, are protected by a thick bush of trees, bushes and pines.
The mild climate of the small ‘Barceloneta'(ancient name of Alghero),which has retained the use of Catalan language, the intense and unique aromas of the vegetation are inviting for a pleasant and relaxing holiday!
And, like the Baleari, Alghero is a paradise for sportsmen. You can practice fishing, snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, sailing, trekking, horse riding, in close contact with nature.
Alghero has many beautiful beaches of fine sand and clear waters, as the beach of Maria Pia. It is surrounded by juniper bushes (comfortable, when you want to repair from excessive heat or you want to find a little peace) or by a variety of plants such as the maritime lily and the santolina. The spectacle that offers the landscape of the sand dunes, alternating with vegetation is remarkable, as is every sunset admired from here.
The beach of the dunes Maria Pia can very well be compared to the beach of Es Trenc, the most beautiful and famous of Mallorca, one of the Baleari islands, where the colors of the sea are Caribbean.
And what about the cove of Capo Galera, near the diving center of Alghero. It is a reserved and magical, small natural inlet surrounded by nature.
It has nothing to envy to the most beautiful beach of Spain in particular of Menorca, as the cove Macarelleta.
But Alghero is also: art with its Gothic-Catalan churches. History with its fortified walls, towers, the Aragonese palaces. Tradition, with its small local craft shops including coral and filigree jewelery. Culture with its Catalan dialect that has preserved the identity of its inhabitants.
It is also a starting point and strategic point for visiting the most beautiful places in northern Sardinia. The island of Asinara, Stintino and its magnificent beach of Pelosa bathed by a crystalline sea.
San Teodoro with its Cinta, a long expanse of golden sand and tourist center, particularly loved by young people for its summer nightlife.
